Demos

Welcome to our Demos section!

This section is dedicated to the best demos from the Amiga and PC demo scene. Why PC demos you may ask? The answer is easy. The PC scene partly derived from the Amiga scene and many well known people are active in both scenes. So Back to the Roots will collect some eye-candy from both worlds. Result is a collection of excellent demos, which nobody should miss. Enjoy it!

AGA: 413 ECS: 471+10 Win32: 457 DOS: 42 Java: 26 Flash: 8
The AGA and ECS Demos are an extensive collection of high quality Amiga demos, availlable for download, all were successfully tested with Amiga emulators. For AGA-Demos you need WinUAE, currently the only windoz Amiga emulator which supports AGA chipset emulation.

Most Amiga demos are zipped ADF images, which can either be inserted into a virtual floppy drive of an Amiga emulator, or which can be written back to real Amiga disks.

Some Amiga demos are HD versions, these are zipped directories which need to be extraced to a directory of a virtual harddisk of an Amiga emulator or a real harddisk of an Amiga.

The Win32 and DOS demos are a collection of the best stuff from the PC scene around, all were successfully tested with Win9x. All DOS demos should be run from the Win9x DOS Prompt, best using Vesa 2.0. If you get an error message at the DOS Prompt like “unable to synchronize to display refresh”, igonre it, the demo will run anyway. If a demo doesn’t work, reboot your computer and start the demo again without running any other program before (a clean boot).

List: 4493 Demos listed
The Demo-List contains information about hundreds of Amiga demos, the Groups which have created them, the release years and compatibility infos, showing you the results of testing each demo with the WinUAE and Fellow Amiga emulators. The list contains the version number of each emulator and the configuration which has been used to perform each test.

To run a demo on an emulator based on the information here, you should try a recent Emulator first, and if this fails, use the version referred to in the list. Download the Configuration Files (and just change the Kick-ROM path), or change your own settings as described in the Configs Howto. Make sure that you read the additional comments in the list carefully.

Changing Disks:
WinUAE: Press F12 / Go to floppies / eject disk / close window / press F12 again / insert new disk / close window
Fellow: Press End+F1 to remove the disk in df0: (F2=df1: …). Press Home+F1 to insert a new disk (german keyboard: press Pos1). Don’t use F12 to change a disk, Fellow will not recognize the change otherwise (e.g. Future Wars Save Disk just works with the above solution)!
