21 Aug 1999 - Back to the Roots V2.00New stuff:
Welcome back! Finally today is the day when BTTR again is ready to rumble! Hippie2000 has now officially joined BTTR and together we have spent the last 12 weeks to create the 'Amiga culture directory project'. My work will still be concentrated on the games and the demo scene related stuff, while Hippie2000 will 'eat my output' to make it browsable and searchable, together with some other useful things here soon.

Don't worry - all old sections are still present (Savedisks are in the Games section now, Win32-Demos are in in the Demos section from now on). Many features were added, including extensive search facilities in each section.

The Music section is completely new. More than 1000 (!!!) new mods were added to this section, sorted in the categories Game-Music, Chip-Music and Scene-Music. Of course not each new mod can be listed here, but you'll find the music from famous demos like Full Moon, Psychedelic and hundreds of others there. Also the best tunes from Bjorn Lynne, Mark Knight, Martin Iveson, Rudolf Stember and many others.

The former compatibility list was split into 2 parts, the Game-List and the Demo-List. More than 500 new games were added. Compatibility info is now also availlable in the download section, so you will not have to look up a game or a demo you just downloaded.

You should really explore all sections carefully, because many new ideas were included in nearly any page. For example: If you're interested in new products of a company, you should have a look at the Companies section. You will find infos there about their current projects for PC and consoles.

I think it's time now to tell you something about the new Games, which were added. Probably the most important thing for most of you. 1869 is a famous historical trading game from Max Design, Aufschwung Ost a great strategy game from Sunflowers (the most friendly people I've ever met!), Caesar the first part from the famous city building series from Impressions, Dragonslayer a great 3D action adventure, Dojo Dan a good action game from Europress, Mr. Men Olympics a funny olympiad, Nuclear Reaction a nice mind game, Pot Panic a funny tetris clone from Kingsoft, Roach Motel a good Jump'n Run, Roll or Die another olympiad game with a differnt style (don't take it too serious!), Warlords the first part from the great strategy series from SSG and finally Wizardry VI - Bane of the Cosmic Forge from Sir Tech is one of the best rpg games which were ever made! I think it's a good selection with many highlights. Thanks to all those people in those companies who are supporting our mission.

Some great new stuff was added for the demo freaks too: No Exit from Nomad and Squeezed from Bomb & Nomad are two highlights, which can be found in the Win32-Demos section. Especially Djam has composed some brilliant tunes for those demos. New additions in the AGA-Demos section are Control from Haujobb, Mind the Carrot, Mind the Co-op, Tractorbeam (all from The Black Lotus) and the funtastic Real from Complex. News in ECS-Demos section are Tales of a Dream from Dreamdealers, Uquala from Damage and Wayfarer from Spaceballs.

All external links at BTTR are sorted by keywords now, and can be found in each section. So if you are searching sites which contain pictures, go to the Webdir in the Pics section, for mod and music related sites go to the Webdir in the Music section, and so on. A general overview and a search engine can be found in the Webdir section.

Just one bad news: Dynamo88 doesn't have the time at the moment to spend much time in the net, for this he has left BTTR. All people who have contacted him should contact Hippie2000 or me from now on. We wish Dynamo88 good luck for the future and hope that he will return soon - maybe again with an own project.

This is a lot of stuff for now, and I could imagine you will be busy for the next days climbing all the new sections. Enough said. We hope you enjoy all the new things, because it was a hell of a lot of work. Of course now you could expect regular updates again, as you were used to from this site. Have fun!
