20 Nov 1999 - Back to the Roots V2.11New stuff:
Hello and welcome to the first tools special at BTTR. During the last weeks we brought you some of the best games, which were ever created with AMOS. This week we are happy to present you the complete set of the AMOS BASIC distribution disks.

AMOS is a game development language, designed by Francois Lionet, who worked at a similar project for the Atari-ST before, called STOS. The first version of AMOS was called AMOS The Creator. AMOS went a big success, and so many games were coded in this language, some of them real diamonds (you saw some here in the last weeks).

Later, the 3D extension AMOS 3D came out, and AMOS Compiler, allowing higher speed of AMOS written programs. For absolute beginners to programming Easy AMOS was developed, and for the professionals AMOS Professional came out. Until now several hundred thousands of AMOS packages were sold.

We want to thank Francois Lionet very much, for allowing us to upload the AMOS distribution disks. Francois Lionet formed the company Clickteam together with some other creative heads, and you should really have a look at the Clickteam Homepage to see what promising products they create today! Also, if you are interested in the AMOS source code (written in 68K assembler) or the STOS source, you should have a look at the FTP section there.

Now let's come to other news in the emulation scene. Warlock, maintainer of the UAE Discussion Board and Warlock's Adf Archive did it again. He started coding for windoz (...) and created a comfortable transfer util called WarTrans PC. Note that this program is Postcardware, so please send Warlock a nice card and he will show you how to enable the easteregg included in return. Read more about that on the WarTrans PC homepage homepage.

Some other important tools which were always missing here are availlable for download too, as Gzip, xDMS and some basics like Installer, SnoopDOS and the excellent virus checker VT-Schutz.
