27 Nov 1999 - Back to the Roots V2.12New stuff:
Back to normality! Today, again, we prepared some interesting games and demos. It's really great that you enjoyed our first tools special that much so we'll surely do this again in future. But now let's come to the new files for this update.

Roger Wilco... Vorhaul... The two guys from Andromeda, Pestulon... What do these names tell us? Yeah! The famous Space Quest series are available now. Sierra's intergalactic space odyssey meanwhile features six excellent parts. The first four are available for the Amiga and now you can download Space Quest I - The Sarien Encounter, Space Quest II - Vorhaul's Revenge, Space Quest III - The Pirates of Pestulon and Space Quest IV - Roger Wilco and the time rippers here from Back to the Roots.

I'm sure everyone knows Core Design's stone age hero Chuck Rock. But meanwhile he's too old to save the world, for this his son experiences some adventures in Cuck Rock 2 - Son of Chuck, one of the funniest Jump 'n Run games ever. This is of course the full version of this game with intro and all. From Electric Dreams comes the strange, but interesting action game Wicked.

We would also like to thank Robin Burrows very much for creating three good shoot 'em up games. His Fatal Mission trilogy is now part of our archive. Also special thanks to the company Dimensions who created the excellent Jump 'n Run game Furball, as well as other good titles like Supernovae, Megafruit and Snoisnemid, which were all added.

Demo Freaks can find a lot of new stuff too. Darkage is one of the best demo groups for the Amiga and everybody should watch their amazing intros Art Nouveau, Crash, Electra, Galaxy, Paradise and Theorema. Under Pressure and Neo are two of their most famous productions. Neo has won the TIG'98 demo competition. Other great intros are Hardcore from Nah Kolor and Point Zero from Mawi.

The Charts probably was the best diskmag, which was ever created. All the intersting articles about the scene and especially the demo, coder, musician and other charts, which were rated by hundreds of people for each issue, have made this diskmag to an unforgetable masterpiece. Unfortunately the Charts are dead, but Ram Jam has created a new diskmag series called Showtime and this is better than the original charts! Of course the scene reports and infos are very interesting and also new rated charts are part of these issues. Since issue #3 Showtime contains also an extra picture gallery, with funny digi pictures of all the well known scene people out there. The first four issues from Showtime were just uploaded, so inform yourself about the good old scene days.

We also have some great intros for the PC demo freaks : 24/7 from Sonik and Pulse, Blocc, Cashcow from Aardbei, CryoGoat from Noice, Dusk from Suburban Base and Flekk from Nah Kolor are all worth looking. As of my opinion the best intro this year is coming from Haujobb and is called Disclone. This thing features so amazing effects - it's unbelievable. The original version just had a size of 64kb. This is the final version and has a few more bytes... (700kb)! But it's better than ever before!!!

And if you shouldn't have noticed it yet - a new feature was added to the Music section. If you have MODPlug installed, you may now listen 95% of all the modules online (more than 2000).

Six links to interesting scene related sites were added too. At Scenet, Scene City and Calodox will you find always the latest news and reviews about the demo scene as well as interviews with scene people. Dreyer's Demo Guide features reviews and ratings for hundreds of Amiga demos and Organic Material Revival is the second creation of Robotriot, the creator of the well known Amiga site V2. The GFX Zone should be visited immediately by all people, who are searching for scene pictures in the original png, gif or any other picture format. Back to the Roots should give you a small impression about the excellent work of the scene graphic artists and all pictures are in jpg format here. Over at the GFX Zone you'll find much more.
