| 06 February 2000 - Official apology |
BTTR - victim of DNS capture:
50% of the people who have visited BTTR yesterday found a shocking fact, the entire site has been redirected to a porn site. All visitors of the front page got redirected to an offensive XXX rated Manga drawing. Who tried to reach a link below our front page even got redirected to other porn sites.
We want to say sorry for that, although it was neither our guilt, nor was it in our control to end that situation. Someone has misused his access to the secondary name server of our host, and has filled it with wrong DNS information, so your browsers got the wrong IP when trying to access BTTR.
This attack was not directed to BTTR, but to ZTNet, who are offering quality hosting for many good sites, which all have been affected yesterday. What ever was the reasons for such a dirty action, it mostly punished people who have nothing to do with it at all. Read the official ZTNet statement. |
| 04 Feb 2000 - Back to the Roots V2.19 | New stuff: |
Welcome back to the roots ;-)
This time we have some goodies for you again, as you propably expected. First of all, we updated our new Web Directory again, added many informative Amiga related sites to it, and slightly enhanced the structure. The new subsection Guides is the location, where we will collect the best links to Amiga related guides, howto's, docs and FAQs from now on.
Now that nearly 300 people subscribed, we also found the time to finish our News-Letter engine, so if you have subscribed to it you should have received a notification email today, if not, then sign up now!
With this update we are happy to announce a new permission for some cool Amiga games again - Mandarin Software. They permitted to include the cool rally simulation Lombard RAC Rally and the fabulous adventure compilation Time and Magik Trilogy to our archive. Especially text adventure freaks should be happy about this update, because we added two more games from Infocom: Bureaucrazy and Seastalker. The action game Cybernauts from Kingsoft was added, and people who like card games will love the game Dawn Video Poker, which is presented very well. Blob (ultimate 8-player platformer), Plubz (fantastic AGA mind game), Shield (people who like No Mercy 99 will like this game very much too) and Zitrax (nice little shoot 'em up) are the other new additions to the games section for this update.
20 new AGA demos were uploaded too, most of them from Haujobb. Check out all the brilliant productions from Speedo, Wave, Muffler and Co. Other excellent demos are coming from Mystic (don't miss their demo Omnirush!), Darkage, Loonies and a few others. The highlight from the new PC Demos is definitely the accelerated demo Kasparov from Elitegroup. Believe me - you've never seen a better 3D engine in any other demo. This demo rocks and has won the accelerated demo competition at The Party 99. From Condense comes Freestyle, another demo which supports 3D cards. It's a mixture between Maniac Mansion and the Addams Family, but in 3D with a cool 3D engine. Another tip!!! Three other cool presentations are the demo Dash and the intros Nerve and Very. All these demos are win32 executables, so there shouldn't be any problems to get them to work.
For the music section we received a new permission too - from Darryl Sloan, the man who's responsible for the music of such great Amiga games like Wasted Dreams or the Strangers. Some years ago he also finished a text-adventure called Genocide Earth. Of course you can download it from BTTR now too. Also many new modules from Erik Lyden were added, another musician who makes music for actual (PC) games and who is well known under his handle Carebear in the demo scene.
New in the Tools section are Georg Veichtlbauer's great WinUAE helpfiles 1.2 (availlable in english and german language).
WinAMP users who did not upgrade yet, may download some new versions of the player and its plugins: WinAmp 2.5e, the Oldsk00l Plugin 0.88, the new beta version SidAmp Plugin 1.4b, and the TFMX Plugin 0.0.0.8.
Friends of psychedelic graphics should also have a look at the WinAmp Geiss Plugin 4.24, and extreme genious fluid motion music visualizer, you will love it!
And last but not least, our pretty outdated version of ADF OPUS, which we had online here was replaced by the newer ADF Opus 0.6.1. | Webdir - 51 new links
