28 Jul 2000 - Back to the Roots V2.22New stuff:
Good day ladies and gentlemen,
a new update just after two weeks? Yeah, we're very busy with BTTR at the moment and have some new features in the pipeline for you, too, which will come online in the next weeks/months. There's still a lot to do, but hopefully you'll enjoy them. Be prepared! But let's make it short - let's come to the new additions:

Games:
New Zealand is a beautiful country and some talented game developers are living there, too. One of the famous Amiga companies from this country were Vision Software and they're supporting BTTR now. Their great racing game "Roadkill" and the excellent and complex jump'n run game "Woody's World" are now part of our games archive.

It is not only here in Germany, but also in most other countries, that football teams are now taking a break . So it's a good time to enjoy a funny soccer game on the computer. Croteam have made the brilliant "Football Glory" games for the Amiga, which looked like Sensible Soccer, bur contained also some new features. "Fife-A-Side Soccer" is the indoor version of Football Glory and it's a brilliant game. So funny, so cute, so playable - you'll love it. Enjoy it! And big thanks to Roman Ribaric, CEO of Croteam, for providing us with this extremely rare game.

Neo Software, a friendly software developer located in Austria, were one of the first who supported the mission of BTTR for legal games. But shortly before X-mas 1999, we were contacted by Alive Mediasoft, who re-released the games from them. They asked us to remove these games, which we did - even when we had the permission for these games. But some weeks ago we were informed by Neo Software, that the licencing agreement with Alive Mediasoft has fallen through. Therefore you can download the games Black Viper (motor-bike racing), Fightin' Spirit (brilliant beat'em up), Spherical Worlds (labyrinth action) and the true classics Whale's Voyage 1+2 (mixture of trading and role-playing elements) again. "The Clue"was never removed from this site and is online here since early 1999, because Alive never signed a *contract* for this game.
And last but not least - have fun with the strategy games "Afrika Korps", "Air Bucks" and "Caesar Deluxe" from Impressions!

Demos:
Many new, excellent productions were released during the last months, where we were a bit low on updates. Now it's finally the time to add the best productions of the Amiga and PC demo scene from the last months. It's too much to describe all new demos here, so we'll describe only a few here. Let's start with some new AGA demos:

From Darkage are coming a cool demo called "Neo2" and an excellent 64k intro with the name "My House". Both were released on the Mekka&Symposium 2000 party. Also presented there was "Urea", a nice demo from Rave Network Overscan which contains a fantastic piece of music, composed by Kure. More nice 64k intros are "Distorted" by Haujobb and "Supa Hero" by Spaceballs.

For our visitors who prefer demos from the PC Scene more, we have uploaded a bunch of totally amazing productions. A must see for everyone is HEAVEN SEVEN, a 64k intro which features realtime raytracing, a brilliant soundtrack and a perfect design. Oh my god - this little thing is so beautiful, it can't be described with words. Watch it! Immediately!!!

Then let's come to Haujobb again... They presented two excellent, 3D accelerated demos on the MS2k demo party. "Mikrostrange" will surprise you with a highly detailed monster fish scene. This Piranha is so detailed and well animated - it will shock you! "Strange Feelings" is a demo with more scene related, good styled effects and great design. Also the winner demo "Sleepless" of the MS2k party is available, but don't ask me why it has won the PC demo competition and not "Mikrostrange". The music of this demo is awesome. No doubt! But the 3D characters are looking a bit... painful, to be honest. Decide it by yourself.

Now we've talked always about the Mekka&Symposium Party, but of course other great demo parties were hold, too and brought us some more good demonstrations. "Vip2" from Popsy Team has won the demo compo of the Takeover 2000 party and was criticized by sceners a lot. The reason is, it uses a song which was composed by "Fear Factory" instead of using an own song. But who cares - this demo looks so great and harmonizes perfectly with the music. It's another must see! The 3dfx version of "Vip 2" can be downloaded from here. Please download the version for other 3D acceleration cards directly from the Popsy Team homepage.

Music:
Finally our CDs section is back! Completely redesigned and with bigger reviews than ever before. If you like game or scene related music, if you want to know if it's worth to buy Audio CDs like Audiophonik - music for the scene generation or game soundtracks from Chris Hülsbeck, Jochen Hippel or Allister Brimble among others, please have a look at our completely new designed CDs section. Big thanks to Volker "Jester / Oddjob" Tripp who provided us with reviews of two CDs.

Downloadable new tunes in mod/xm format are coming from Mark Knight, who sent us all his funny tunes from the game "Out to lunch". From Tim Wright are available all ingame tunes from the game "Agony". Please note, that these tunes are in custom format, so you need the WinAmp Oldsk00l Plugin to listen to them. And from Darryl Sloan were now added all his other tunes as well as more music from the scene musicians Ramon, Nightbeat, Muffler, Virgill, Cecchi and Jester.

Pictures:
Are some emulator users interested in how good new Amiga games are looking today? Then please have a look at the pictures from the new Settlers clone "Foundation Gold", the brilliant action-adventure "Wasted Dreams" or the 3D Jump'n Run game "Tales from Heaven". Hopefully these pictures will awake your interest in games, which will even work excellent with the WinUAE Emulator and you can expect something more related to these games here soon. And don't forget to watch the new pictures in the scene-pics section, or you'll miss some beautiful pictures of women as well as other good looking stuff.

Now let's finally come to an end, because probably we've bored you enough with words and descriptions. Just let's point you into the direction of a nice website which is called The Legacy and which contains interesting informations about thousands of games. These were our final words! Good bye ;-)
