Ladies and gentlemen, you may have asked yourself why it took so many weeks until this update, the answer is, we did:
BTTR improvements: Our Aminet Gateway, which allows you to browse through a frequently updated compiled index of all full mirrors of the worlds largest amiga software archive, now includes all readme files of entire Aminet. You could expect more features around this fact. The second improvement we worked hard for is a new thumbnail engine showing screenshot, logos and picture thumbs in a higher quality, making it a bit easier for your eyes to see, and for us to add even more stuff each update.
Games: It's a great day, because we're allowed to include the games from Acid Software to our archive. We'll start with the funny arcade racing game Skidmarks, which finally works perfectly with WinUAE 0.8.14! With Deflektor we've added an addictive puzzle game. Probably Zool doesn't need a description, but for those of you who don't know the fastest Ninja-Ant of the universe, you should know that it's an excellent Jump'n Run game. Big thanks must go to our french friend who has provided us with four classic adventure games from Infocom, which are extremely hard to find. Border Zone, Cutthroats, Moonmist and another part of the famous Zork series are now available here. Last but not least we'd like to thank Richard Loewenstein, chief editor of the german magazine PC Joker, for allowing us to upload his puzzle game Norse Gods. It contains music by Rudolf Stember, who has also contributed to the Merregnon project.
Demos: To make it short: The PC Demos area contains lots of excellent and huge productions, such as Purple, Just a touch of Funk, Lapsus or Experimental. Check them out if you don't want to miss any great scene stuff. If you have a fast PC you should really download the latest included AGA demos, which work perfectly with an emulator, too. It's always a pleasure to see the brilliant effects from the Amiga demo scene, to watch the beautiful graphics and to listen to the excellent tunes from musicians like Muffler or Unison. Scene freaks who enjoy the past a bit more will find tons of classic demos for the Amiga 500, which will perfectly run with the emulators.
Tools: We decided to also support Amiga emulation on Macintosh computers, so as a first step we uploaded MacUAE and the nice frontend MacUAE-GUI. We search volunteer(s) to do compatibility tests on Mac, so if you are an experienced MacUAE user then please contact us! Georg Veichtlbauer gave his heart a kick and updated the german WinUAE help file which we have online now. He still searches someone to translate it to english (and to maintain the project at all). Also, the most recent version of WinUAE, 0.8.14 R3 can also be downloaded here from now on.
Reviews + Interviews: We're very proud to present a review of Merregnon, a briliant music CD full of orchestral music. Composed by scene and game musicians like Chris Huelsbeck, Allister Brimble, Lizardking or Jogeir Liljedahl is this CD the surprise of the last months! Come and join us on our trip into the beautiful world of Merregnon. We've also taken a closer look on an other games-related music CD: Soundfactory from Chris Huelsbeck!
Scene special: Most people will remember Robotriot as the webmaster of the Amiga website "V2". We're very happy that this nice guy has written a profile about the scene group Aardbei. Currently they're producing some of the best PC intros. Robotriot has also interviewed SNQ, coder from Aardbei. Also available is an interview/profile with the Amiga demo group Reason. Read their thoughts about the demo scene on the "AmigaOne", the next generation Amiga. Martyn is a very talented musician and has composed some tunes for the demo group Noice. Read how he has started with composing music.
That's it for this update. You'll hear from us soon. yours Bobic & Hippie2000 | Aminet - All readme files
