Ladies and gentlemen,
another year has passed. A year where we have seen many changes in the real Amiga community. Amiga International has new owners and they're working on something new, on a platform independent OS amongst other things which shall bring Amiga back the fame and glory of the old days. Sometimes it sounds a bit mysterious, but it sounds revolutionary, too.
We've also seen the release of the classic Amiga OS 3.9, ports of great PC games for powerful Amigas like Heretic II, Nightlong or Earth 2140, which should be shipped while you're reading these lines.
The emulation scene was surprised with a new, much more compatible version of WinUAE, while the original UAE itself has now the JIT-Pack included, which speeds up the emulation a lot. The next year should bring this excellent feature also to the Windows users.
But let's come to our own news - the Christmas update. We've digged out some wonderful treasures for all of you, the faithful community. Here are our presents:
Games:
Especially simulation lovers will be happy, because Dynamix and Digital Integration have allowed us, to upload some of their games. Therefore we can offer you today Red Baron, F-16 Combat Pilot and Tornado! If you prefer helicopters more than aircrafts, then Thunderhawk from Core Design is the right game for you. Driving freaks can find Combo Racer and Vroom at our archive now, together with the Jump'n Run game Wonderdog and finally a working version of Activision's Warhead.
Adventurers - listen: We're happy to announce a premiere! The new, modified Amiga version from Space Quest I was never downloadable from the internet before (at least not for free and legally). Thanks to Sierra we can now offer this great game, together with the classics Codename: Iceman and Colonel's Bequest. The last additions to the games section are versions from Hannibal, Beneath a steel sky and Lure of the Temptress in different languages, as well as some bonus games like the excellent adventure Lord of Alcandria 3 or the action game Dithell in Space.
Demos:
More classic and new scene-stuff was added to both ECS and AGA sections. Hightlights are Optimum Fuckup from Sanity, Runaway, Imitation None from The Black Lotus, Raybong or the brilliant designed Ahonen does asm.
The update at the PC-Demos section features some kind like Java- Demo-Special, demos which are running in a browser window. These demos are platform independent and work on PC, Macintosh and other systems! Don't forget to watch the perfectly designed accelerated PC only demos Broadband and Black 2000 (the remix is a must!), which are both perfectly designed. This is real scene art.
Music and Pics:
Jason Page, well known for his famous Amiga tunes like Fire and Ice or Uridium 2, has allowed us to upload his great music. We'll start with the music from Fire and Ice. Please note, that PC-users can only listen to his music, if they use DeliPlayer! WinAmp is unable to play these files.
20 great new music-modules from the scene were added, too. One of them - a funny chip-tune composed by the genious Chavez - is also our mod of the month, to which you can listen at our modplug popup window.
As usual there are lots of new excellent pixeled and raytraced pictures from the scene and some good looking screenshots from Amiga games available at our pics-section.
Docs:
With this update we're very happy to present interviews with two legendary musicians from the Amiga demoscene. Jester/Sanity is now composing music under the handle Oddjob, while we haven't heard something from Clawz/Bomb+Oxygene for a long time now. Both musicians have something really interesting to say - not only for music lovers!
Now it's time for us to say good-bye - but only for this year. We'd like to thank you for all your support and send greetings to all our friends and to the software companies and people, who helped us to keep the classic Amiga games alive. We wish you all a merry christmas and a happy new year. We'll be back in 2001. Be prepared for some big surprises during the next year, which will make you excited.
