Hello all, welcome to the first update here on BTTR in 2001. This update is as big as the last one and you can download over 100MB of new files again.
Games: The new year is beginning really great for us, because we've received permission from Sports Interactive, the creators of the Championship Manager series, which makes especially the football fans from the UK totally crazy. Sports Interactive are the third company after Core Design and Lankhor who are part of the giant Eidos Interactive empire and who're supporting us. Let's hope that the friendly people from Eidos won't need so long again, until they'll allow us to upload more games from their companies.
Even more great news for nostalgic game hearts is probably the inclusion of Second Samurai to our games archive. A true classic which was published by Psygnosis in 1993 and developed by Vivid Image. Other new commercial games are the games Striker, Emerald Mine, Chichen Itza or the great shoot'em up Ziriax from Peter Verswyvelen.
As usual we carefully selected some of the best PD games for you. Just to name a few: Epsilon 9 (excellent adventure), Seahaven 2000 (addictive card game), Breaking Heads (great beat'em up), Roper (unique platform game) or the fabulous and mega-funny card game Crazy Eights.
Demos: The Party 10 is over... Some years ago it was the best and most respected demo-party worldwide. But the last two years it has become pretty lame. For the tenth anniversary the organizer have said, let's go "Back to the Roots", which is really a nice slogan ;-). But even this year, this party was really a big disappointment. The quality of the productions was mostly horrible. We digged out the few pearls for you, which you can download from here now.
Farbrausch have released the most impressive production of the whole party: FR08 - the product. A 64k intro which looks like the great Kasparov demo and runs for some minutes!!! The best intro for the PC, together with Heaven Seven! A must see! There were some more nice intros presented at TP10 like Poetry, Nean der taler, Forms or Dreams..., which are all beautiful design-intros, instead of heavy 3D-stuff.
The PC demos, which were presented there, were all pretty lame. Except "Audio Video Disco" from Scoopex and "Chrome" from Damage, which feature lots of beautiful scene-effects packed into a design which reminds a lot on some cool AGA-Demos. "Moments" from Haujobb is an OK demo, while the winner demo from TP10 - "Love Creation Max" from Inf - has nothing to do with a scene-demo. It could be a game... How boring... Therefore you can find some cool productions, which were released during the last year for download.
Let's come to the Amiga side. The TP10 was a bit better for Amigians. There was a really cool demo from Haujobb presented, called "Megademo 2000". Also their intro is very nicely designed. There's some more intersting stuff for AGA and A500 Demo lovers available from both Amiga Demos download sections. Check them out!
Music: Don't expect that we've added music from the TP10. The music-compos were really lame and full of horrible sounding techno-crap. Anyway, we've included 80 tunes which were released during the years. All are in various styles and are coming from the scene. 40 tunes are Demo-Music from musiciancs like KB, Andromeda, Chavez or Muffler, the others are some lovely sounding Chip-Music! Many of them are real classics. Also there are 26 more tunes taken from classic Amiga games available. Most tunes are coming from Jason Page again and can only be played with DeliPlayer. Oh, and our new "mod of the month" is coming from SolarC & Repe and is called "Fukwit Daddy". It's the music from Haujobb's brilliant intro with the same name. You can listen to it automaticaly, when the mod-window pops up after entering BTTR, or of course download it from our music section). Thanks to Melwyn for providing this tune.
Pictures: Surprise! Some of the pictures which were shown during the compos at TP10 were really good and were added. Again we've mixed these pictures with some other graphics from the scene. Look at all these pictures from Peachy, Magicboy, Made, PCGS, 3D Addict and other pixel/render artists. Our Game-Pics section were updated, too with 40 new screenshots from Amiga game classics.
Tools: Last update pretended, this time for real we finally added DeliPlayer for Win32, playing more than 170 mod formats. So if WinAmp together with its plugins is not capable of playing a specific mod format, you know what to do... For the MacUAE friends the tool UAE HDF Creator was added, helping you to create empty HDF files on a mac. Finally the legal workbench replacement UAEBench by P. J. Hutchison, the maker of the WinUAE FAQ, can also be downloaded from here.
Tip: Did you like the game Deluxe Galaga as much as we did? Well, then check out the website from Michael Boeh. He has created a game called Bugatron for Windows which is an awesome game full of fast-paced action and beautiful effects. It's Freeware! And now we've reached the end of an update again. Hope you'll like the new stuff from our update premiere in 2001 :-).
