Welcome everybody to our latest update:
Games: Finally it was time to include one of the greatest pinball simulation games ever made to BTTR: Pinball Illusions from Digital Illusions. Three perfectly designed tables, excellent graphics and an outstanding soundtrack are the features of this alltime classic. From the same company is coming Benefactor, another damn fine game which challenge your skills as well as your brain. More exciting games are the excellent racing game Skidmarks 2 from Acid Software; the funny soccer game Football Glory from Croteam, the creators of Serious Sam; Mad News, a german economy simulation from Ikarion; the german version of the trading-rpg game Whale's Voyage from Neo Software and Street Racer, a brilliant Mario Kart alike racing game from Vivid Image, which was released in 1997 for the Amiga.
All mentioned games were made by companies, who are supporting our project for a long time now. Of course we can proudly announce some new permissions. At first we'd like to thank Cameron McKechnie for his permission for the cool shoot'em up game Sirius 7, which feature an impressive soundtrack from Blair Zuppicich. Another game from him and his company Art Software (which was later renamed to Vision Software) is the funny platform game Sorcerer's Apprentice. Then we'd like to thank Keith Golden from Aurum Software for allowing us to upload his Adventures through time. Last but not least the strategy players out there shouldn't think we have forgot some stuff for them in this update. Thanks to the strategy experts from CCS we can present you the hardcore strategy titles Arnhem and Ancient Battles.
Don't forget to check out the PD games, which were included with this update: Aggression (shoot'em up with Turrican 2 alike music), Botss 3 (another excellent shoot'em up ), Lethal Formula (adventure), Lost Prince (another adventure in Lucas Arts style), Microbes (interesting shoot'em up) and Transplant (fantastic Asteroids clone with a cool rotation effect and excellent TFMX music).
Demos: Many demo groups exist who're producing quality stuff. Of course we can't know every group - there are too many around. But it's really a shame that we haven't noticed the fantastic work from the Amiga demo group Appendix earlier. Especially their demos I want to be machine and Flea are productions, which nobody should miss. And their intro Electricity must be part of every good Amiga demo collection, too. It contains some of the best Chip-Music, every composed for an intro! Grab all productions from Appendix from our AGA-Demos section. More AGA-stuff is coming from Depth, Drifters, Ephidrena and The Experience. Finally a new issue of the excellent Showtime diskmag has been released. Have a look at it for the latest news about the Amiga demoscene. Our nostalgic trip back into the early nineties brings you some classic Amiga 500 demos and slideshows from groups like Drifters, Absolute or Equinox. Check out our ECS-Demos section for more...
The highlights in the PC-Demos corner of this update are two 4k-intros, which were released at MS2k1. Small little gems, which feature impressive effects and great music. Another highlight is GL-Excess from Paolo Martella. It's a 18,5MB monster with really cool effects. Really worth watching! The czech demo group Marshals have released their first PC-demo. Kubik contains an interesting, fresh design, so check it out. Other good prods are coming from groups like Fudge, Mankind, Smash Designs or Unique.
Music: Barry Leitch has allowed us to include all his Amiga game tunes into our music archive. Most of you might know him for his excellent tunes for Lotus 2, Humans and tons of other games. 40 modules from him were added and his funny song for the scrolltune sequence in Prophecy - the viking child was chosen as our tune of the month. Listen to it by clicking on the BTTR-logo at our starting page.
Music which was used in scene-demos is ready to download from our Demo-Music section. 80 mind- and ear-blasting songs can be downloaded. If you liked the music from Odyssey, Jesus on E's, Crystal Symphonies, Final Reality, Smokebomb or I want to be machine as well as many newer demos, check out this part of BTTR immediately. Not to forget that 20 new wonderful melodic chippy tunes were added, too.
Pictures: Need some eye-candy? Here we go! Screenshot freaks will find pictures from Amiga games like Banshee, Ruff 'n' Tumble, Rubicon or The Strangers online. Big thanks to Joachim Froholt for providing us with some screenshot material. More excellent graphics from Disposable Hero and Land of Genesis can be viewed, now.
Even more graphical material from the demoscene has been included. Some of the artists from whom we have added some pics are Inferno, Made, Green 7, Laika, Critikill and many others. Also check out the raytraced graphics from L. Soa. Probably the rendered images with the highest detailed level we've ever seen!
Tools: In our tools section we finally added the release versions of WinFellow 0.4.3 and the new versions of WinUAE 0.8.16. For AmigaOS, BeOS and OS/2 friends UAE ports are also present in the archive now. Two new ADF utils were contributed by Codetapper of Action, Diskwiz and Tracktool. AMItac from Netacs contributed his easy to understand and humor full WinUAE help file in german language. Georg Veichtlbauer updated the WinUAE Help file in english language again (translators contact him!) and all WinUAE help files are now also available as uncompiled html versions, since they could be helpful on other platforms as well.
