BTTR got a new home!
As reported in our last news, we had big troubles financing the traffic you all produce at our host EmuUnlim/ZTnet. This issue is fixed now, as we moved to a new dedicated server in norway, provided by Warlock (Warlock's Adf Archive, UAE Discussion Board) and all the kind people at NVG.org (amiga.nvg.org) who all have a big heart for Amiga!

We left ZTnet in peace, and they still support us. We just grew out of the scope of what one could expect as "free hosting". We especially want to thank The Fox of EmuUnlim.com and Brian and Zach of ZTnet.com for the nerves and resources they spent to let us grow until here!

The advantage for you, you neednt worry any more about hurting BTTR by downloading much here. Also, no more time sceduled downloads running here, and the best, no more commercial ADs!
BTTR still needs your help!
We search people who feel they know something about a specific section which already exists or which would fit to BTTR to maintain a database of it. Our database doesnt even cover 10% of the amiga software which exists. With your help that could change quickly. If you are familiar with for example cd32 releases, anims, amiga literature, tools, apps, disk series or whatever, please consider maintaining such a section (or a part of it) by maintaining a database of it and share your knowledge with thousands of daily users. Also, covering any other commodore machine is welcome.

About offering monetary help: We grow fast (this update 388 new files) and will run out of disk space with time if we dont care now. We will create a "BTTR hardware pool" where those of you who want can send some money which will 100% be used for covering BTTR hosting hardware. To all who mailed and offered help, if you didnt get a response yet you soon will, we had lots of work, and might have forgotten someone.
BTTR got "attacked" by IDSA!
BTTR has been "attacked" by the obscure private international "software cops" IDSA. Not that we were contacted by them, no, they asked our host ZTnet to shut us down, because they believe that we infringe copyright with our games section. Obviously, they did not do any research before. A quote: "... IDSA hereby requests ZTNet L.L.P. to immediately remove or disable access to the sale of Infringing Material at the URL address identified above.", naming our URL.

This happened without a prior chance of interaction. Only the graceful reaction of ZTnet to inform us was the reason why we weren't already shut down and why we got a chance to interact. We had to defend with approves against their believes. In the end we did the work they get payed for. We especially wonder why they have chosen us for that attack, and not one of the zillions of warez sites. Looks like someone must have pointed them at us. Whoever you are, do you sleep good at night abusing honest people?

After having offered some contact info of people who licensed some of the games, IDSA didnt even see the need to respond again, even after an additional request. Strange behaviour. Time piracy.

That's it today with the extra news, here what you expect:
20 Aug 2001 - Back to the Roots V2.32New stuff:
Games:
Often requested by Amigans, so we finally splitted our Game downloads into ADF-Games and HD-Games subsections!

We're pleased to announce two new permissions. At first we'd like to thank Soft Enterprises for allowing us to include their addictive puzzle games Brain Artifice and Cube-X. While the first game features an impressive amount of 500 (!) levels, the second game is a real rarity. The development on Cube-X has been completed a long time ago, but the game has never been officially released, due to various reasons. So it's finally the time to make this excellent Puzznic-clone available for the public. Enjoy it!
The second permission is coming from Switzerland. Nightmare Productions is the name of the company who programmed Antares. This excellent german rpg reminds a lot on Bard's Tale, but it's scenary is settled in the future.

This time football manager addicted people have a lot to play around. The entire Premier Manager series has its appearance here on BTTR. Bridge fanatics can shuffle the cards with Colossus Bridge X. Trigger freaks can fight their way through the dark arenas in Alien Syndrome, can explore the futuristic insect world in Venus - The Flytrap or can travel into the world of Switchblade 2. Those who love the famous Aquatic Games should give Crazy Challenge a try. It's a similar game, a lot of fun included!!!

Demos:
60 new demos were added to our archive. 20 for each demo section. In the PC-Demo section can be found all productions from Takeover 2001 and Remedy 2001, which are worth watching. First class released from Cocoon, Fairlight, Haujobb and Move are included.
As great as the PC demos are the new AGA-Demos, which are coming from legends like The Black Lotus, Mankind, Scoopex, Haujobb, Ambrosia and many other groups who are doing a fantastic job in keeping the Amiga scene alive (or did a great job).
And then we have 20 new ECS-Demos. Names like Crusaders, Alcatraz, Abyss or Anarchy should make all real sceners excited. Special thanks to Murk from Sonik Clique for his support. You can find some of his productions online now, too.

Music:
Mega thanks to Andrew Barnabas. After 2 years of patient waiting, Andrew finally decided to allow us to include his game-tunes. Please don't take this personal, Andrew. It was fun to wait, because now some of the best game tunes (like SWIV or Double Dragon III) are part of our music section. We also have music from the shoot'em up game Apano Sin (released in 2000) online, now.
Chippy sounds and cool demoscene music. We have them all. 20 new (and mostly) funny sounding chip tunes were added, as well as 80 tunes from scene musicians. Music for each taste, because these tunes take off all categories. It doesn't matter if you like guitar, orchestral, ambient or tekkno music. We'll sure you'll find something for your pleasure.

Pictures:
Big, bigger, the biggest picture update in the history of BTTR! 80 new brilliant pictures from demoscene artists like Arancia, Louie, Lowlife, Magicboy, Nytrik or Saffron have been added.
The games gallery contains 70 more pictures, now. All screenshots were taken from newer Amiga games like Simon 2, Payback, Napalm or Apano Sin. But even classic pixel stuff is available. Bio Challenge, Defender of the Crown, X-Out to name a few.

Additional information:
Nick Logan did it! He created a save disk for Sensible World of Soccer which works under emulation!!! Nobody thought that this is possible. Download it now! Also we're happy to present you two brand new reviews of excellent Audio CDs. Both CDs are from Melcom and worth listening. Read why!

Our compatibility databases (games and demos) grew a lot again. A few hundred new entries were added and many compatibility infos updated. Special thanks to Andreas Eibach und Hashem Khalifa Al-Honaian for their support and all the time, which they spend to find out some hardcore configs for tricky games.

That's it for today. Have fun.
yours Bobic & Hippie2000
