Here we are again!

Easter is over, but the rabbits are still extremely busy. A few days after Easter, we, your lovely rabbits from Back to the Roots, have finally found the time to bring some beautiful eggs on your screen. No, we're not hoppin' mad at this time. Our brains are still clear. We're just in a hurry, because most members of our team (Bernd, Robotriot, Hippie2000 and Bobic) have been boozing around at Mekka & Symposium 2002, Germany's best and biggest scene event. We're still a bit tired, have checked lots of great releases from this demo-party and had also tried to found the way back to normality after a great weekend. Now we've finished this update. Here's our Easter nest for all of you (better late than never)!

ADF-Games:
Please be careful while opening egg Nr. 1. It contains some heavy stuff like Rings of Medusa, a milestone in strategic gaming, Heimdall 2, the action oriented rpg settled in a nordic world full of legends and adventures, Leisure Suit Larry 1 in it's modified version with better graphics, Nebulus, the classic platform game or Rubicon, an action packed game with beautiful gfx.

Not only companies but also individuals support our mission. This time many ex Loriciel employees have contributed: The programmer David Peres and graphic artist Patrick Daher kindly allowed us to include The Cartoons which is a cute and playable platform game with many funny ideas. Also Didier Arnaud worked for Loriciel and coded the realistic tank simulation Sherman M4 which is one of the most popular 3D war games on the Amiga. Robert McNally did not work for Loriciel but he kindly permitted us to put his board game Quintette and his awesome arcade title Ebonstar online. Finally Ross Goodley gave his OK to offer Gravity - a technically brilliant space game which was published by Image Works, but has always been property of the author.

HD-Games:
Egg Nr. 2 reveals another new permission. Marble Eyes allowed us to put their 3D-shooter Genetic Species online. This game is simply great in both ways, gameplay and technique! Published by Vulcan Software it was the last Amiga game from this company.
Other HD only games inside this easter present are e.g. Benefactor, First Samurai, Black Crypt, Skeleton Krew, Super Cars 1+2, Slam Tilt and more!

Demos:
The year is still young, but a couple of cool PC demos already have been released and these new additions are part of egg Nr. 3.
Especially My World from Ukonx is great to watch, because it reminds a lot on some cool AGA Amiga demos. Typical demo effects, not game related boring stuff! Simply great!

The best productions from Mekka & Symposium 2002 have been uploaded, too. The guys from Farbrausch have released a very impressive 64k intro there. fr-019: poem to a horse has blown away all visitors and has clearly won the intro compo! Watch it, feel it, love it! It's a masterpiece in design and technique!
Farbrausch released more great stuff at this party, but even Haujobb, Spinning Kids, Kolor and many other groups release cool productions. Check them out.

For Amiga freaks MS02 was a paradise alike place even this year. Many brilliant PPC only demos have been shown, nevertheless the most impressive demos are still running on 68k machines. Our heroes from The Black Lotus have shown their potential again with Little Nell, which has won the Amiga demo competition. Loonies released a stunning intro called The Castle, which looks like Quake - but the size is just 64k! And there are more releases waiting to get watched!
Of course we have some older A500 demos for the nostalgic freaks among us. Apex, Tristar or Tragedy are responsible for these productions.

Music:
The eggs are rolling on. The fifth present from the chicken let your eggs shakin' around. It features music from Purple Motion, Willbe, MeloManiac, Andreas "Viper" Stürmer, Xerxes and Maze. Overall 80 new scene mods and 40 Chip-Music are available online.

Pictures:
Now you've found the last egg. It's full of shiny colors, creativity and brilliance. Perfect pixel art for which the demoscene is so well known. Enjoy the inner life of this birdie fruit which contains pictures from 3d Addict, Made, Mime and many others! Please forgive us that due to lack of time we couldn't add the pictures from MS02, yet. Our next update will give you even more magic pixel and 3D art!

That's it for this update. Enjoy everything!
your "Back to the Roots" team
