| Back to the Roots - first newspage update since spring (OUCH, SHAME!)... |
| First of all a big sorry from me (Hippie2000) for blocking the entire team that long by not updating this site. I got thrown away from the net and from computers in general by destiny, who took away my younger brother (and my best friend) Joerg. I spent a lot of time in nature with _nice_ people who helped me a lot to stand the ultimate facts. A big thanks go to these unnamed individuums (yes, you know who you are!), without you I would have been thrown out of my life entirely. I'm ok now again, and promise to update more frequently in future. Thanks for your understanding - Ralf. |
| New team member: |
| The first 'news' we want to announce is a new team member, The Stalking Wolf, webmaster of the german scene picture archive stalkingwolf.de, which soon will run synchronized with our Pics section. Both sides will share databases and pictures, while being partially maintained from both sides. This is a new kind of cooperation, which we intend to do with further sites in future... |
| The never ending story? - IDSA attack #2... |
IDSA (Interactive Digital Software Association), self appointed world software cops, attacked our site again. Obviously they run a robot, which parses sites for zipfiles with names of games they protect, and, once detected, directly notify the owner of the IP space to disable access without doing any research. That is exactly what happened to us, now the second time. Last time (one year ago) we provided contact details and the information that all stuff on our site is either freely distributable or licensed. They did not even respond. The first answer is the second attack now, mostly because of freeware and demo versions! Fortunately the IT department of the university hostig us are some bright minds. They disabled routing for our machine for a while and asked IDSA to approve their statement in any way, which did not happen, so they enabled our site again. Big thanks for this wise reaction!
If you run a legal download site, please warn your ISP about the way IDSA is doing their work, and that they blindly try to shut down sites, no matter how many years of research you invested in getting licenses to keep your site legal. If you're one of the companies supporting IDSA consider giving your money to someone who takes the subject more seriously. |

| Bueons dias Amiga lovers!
Now that Summer has obviously passed in the northern hemisphere it's time to test your fitness at home. Are you strong enough to successfully survive the sports events, which we've prepared for you???
ADF-Games: Probably some of you can remember Tynesoft which was famous for sports games on 8- and 16-bit computers. Many people think that they have been out of business for years, but this is accurately improper. Tynesoft has only changed its business subject, but nevertheless they were so kind to grant us the permit to present their Amiga software on our site. The beloved sports and skill games Buffalo Bill's Rodeo Games and Summer Olympiad, plus the imposing 3D action game Roller Coaster Rumbler make the start. A few weeks ago the best soccer teams worldwide have competed in the World Championship which was held in Japan and South Korea this time. Now you can replay this great event! Is Brazil really the best team in the world? Find it out by yourself by playing Empire Soccer from Graftgold.
Always wanted to be an astronaut? Astronauts must be strong, they must be 100% fit. Are you prepared for such a job? Then listen carefully: Peter Irvin, co-author of the legendary game Exile wants to see how good you can move around in an astronaut's suit. Thanks to him, this brilliant game is now online here. Download it now and show him your talent! If you should still feeling good after this experiment, you should take a run together with Tearaway Thomas. This cute dog is faster than Sonic ever was and programmer David Hanney gave us permission to upload his colorful jump'n run game. Big thanks to him!
Furthermore the members of the ex-Polish based developer Virtual Dimension approved of free distribution for their 3D bestseller Citadel which features fast graphics even on small machines. Also Nigel Alderton gave us permission to include his platform games Chuckie Egg and its sequel to our archive. Other great new downloads are: Axel's Magic Hammer, Crack, Harlequin, K240 and Leonardo. Last but not least we added some Public Domain pearls: Games like Vogone and Iron Clads should not be missed in a good Amiga software collection.
HD-Games: Still not breathless? It seems you are all trained very well. So let's continue with some stuff for the sports experts of you: To train your fists and legs a bit more, you should have a look at the brilliant beat'em up games Shadow Fighter or Karate Kid II. If you like it faster, jump onto one of the motor-bikes in Super Hang On. Something really unusual can be tried out in "Heimdall": Pig catching!!!
Following the trend of train simulations on the PC we have added Train Simulator 3 for the Amiga. This ex-shareware game by Paul Robins has a 3D engine (!) and is very inextricable. Therefore, something for simulation lovers and not a fast play. Different versions of Airbus A-320 2 and some Microdeal JST games can now also be obtained.
Demos: You've finished your training! Now it's time to take a break. Sit back and relax a bit by watching some cool PC Demos. Some more demos from Mekka & Symposium, the best stuff from The Gathering and some other events have been added. Music lovers don't have to jump to our music archive, yet. Three excellent Music disks have been released lately. Most of them featuring excellent Chip-Music. Download Beepdealers, Inside It and Module Addiction 1 for a perfect listening experience.
The Amiga Demos section was updated with lots of great releases from Spaceballs, Ephidrena, Kangooroo, Suspect and Push Entertainment. Some very interesting issues of famous diskmags have been added, which are D.I.S.C. 11-13 and Showtime 17. Also in our Amiga sections you'll find two new music disks: Legoland, featuring even more great Chip-Music, and Enjoy the Silence, which contains cool remixes of Depeche Mode songs.
Tools: Our Tools section was updated too, with educational and informative applications like the Star Trek Episodes guide, the Weather Guide or the World History Timetable. For the music app fan we have the drum machines Beat Master and Beat Stomper 2 as well as the tracker Wizard of Sound. For the game addicted coder we added the game construction tool Dune.
Music: We're happy to announce that we'll add mp3-files in the future, too. So far, only about 15 mp3-files were available for download. Now we'll add excellent mp3-music composed by scene musicians with every update. We'll start with tracks, which have been released at Mekka 02 and The Gathering 02. Of course we'll continue with uploading tracked music from the Amiga and PC demoscene.
Let's come to game music: Highlight of this update is the music from the great role-playing / strategy mixture Death or Glory. Composer Chris Korte was so kind enough in allowing us to upload his excellent fantasy soundtrack. We say: Thank you, Chris! Music from the games 1000 Miglia, Cyberzerk, Dojo Dan and Steel were added, too.
Pictures: In our Scene-Pics section we've provided you a load of eye candy (not only) from Mekka & Symposium 2002, added by our new team member Stalkingwolf. Besides that, we finally updated our Cover-Scans section again with new scans of (mostly rare) game boxes! Box scans from Quik and Silva, Disposable Hero, Mr. Nutz, QBall, XR35, Software Manager, Simon the Sorcerer 2 and many more are now viewable.
Special: You might be interested to read some articles while downloading all this great stuff. In cooperation with Lary "Ghandy" Sobiraj and his web-project Diskmag.de we present you interesting interviews with two Amiga demogroups: Ephidrena are a big name in the Amiga demoscene. The kings of design have brought us brilliant productions like J, Adam Malysz vs. Wienerwurst or Flux. Read more about them in Ghandy's interview with Ephidrena. The second interview features Loonies from Denmark. Organizer and master coder Psycho told Ghandy a lot about their scenework. At Easter at MS02 demoparty this group surprised us with a stunning 64k intro called The Castle. If you want to know more about them, read the interview with Loonies.
Oh! Before we forget it! Special thanks go out to Walker and Andreas for updating our compatibility list with more useful information! You're great guys!
