Back to the Roots - 5th Anniversary Update
Hello and welcome to just another "largest update in the history of BTTR"! We returned from a long "sleep" and have prepared loads of presents for you, in hope that you could forgive our long rest ;-)
You'll see that we haven't slept...

Back to the Roots launches online Mod-Radio!
The first news we want to announce is a world news, a new aproach of interactive online radio! In cooperation with numerous sites we are proud to offer you an automatted tree of radio stations allowing you to access 87939 mods in currently 162 radio channels, playing mod music all day! Read more about this project in the new Radio main section.

FTP news at Back to the Roots:
We have uploaded many gigabytes of new Amiga software for you to our FTP:

There's a new PD section on our FTP now, where we start to offer PD disk series and CDs. As an initial set we uploaded more than 20.000 disk images and a dozen CDs. You find goodies like the complete 17bit series, the Kickstart series, LSD legal tools, the PD-Soft disk series and much more here.

Fred Fish, the father of Amiga PD disk series, who doesn't know him, gave us permission to offer any of the Amiga CD's that he has produced at BTTR. Thanks Fred! <>< ;-)
The first CD online is the first FrozenFish CD, containing the FF disks 1-1000 and much more.

In cooperation with Randy Abel from the The Other Group of Amigoids (TOGA) we also have the last still maintained Amiga Disk series online, the TOGA Public Domain Library. Thanks Randy!

Besides that we uploaded the excellent 2CD spanish modules compilation Modplanet, both browsable and ISO images to our FTP, transparently part of our Mod-Radio. Thanks to sml/fuzzion for allowing this!

We have also added and updated FTP mirrors for you. The AROS mirror at BTTR now works again and is updated daily including the snapshots and nighly compilations, same as the GeekGadgets full mirror.

We also mirror the Modulez.org FTP here (thanks yero!) and the High Voltage SID collection, the world's largest collection of C64 music files (thanks to the HVSC adminstration!), both transparently part of our Mod-Radio.

And last but not least we now have a realtime mirror of DeliPlayer here, propably the best and most complete Mod player, which has been enhanced to support our Mod-Radio. Thanks guys, you are very cooperative souls!

New Back to the Roots team members:
Dirk Stoecker, well known amiga coder and webmaster of the world's largest solitaire cardset collection RekoNet decided to continue his impressive archive in cooperation with BTTR, that's why we now have a Cardsets subsection in our Pics section which will run synchronized with RekoNet. Both sites will be interconnected, while having a visual frontend at BTTR. Thanks Dirk!

Mosmensk, well known from his former site Amigamos.com, the "Most Orange Site" in the web. He's now our mod scanning master and went through the mess to scan more than 10GB of modules for our Mod-Radio project, without him it would not have been possible in such short time. Thanks!

Melcom, well known ex scene musician contributed the world's largest collection of chiptunes to BTTR, also part of our Mod-Radio now. The site is now hosted at chiptunes.back2roots.org and will be joined and synchrosized with our Chip-Music section as we find time. Thanks Melcom!

New hosted sites at Back to the Roots:
Besides chiptunes.back2roots.org we digged out another Mod archive which wasn't present in the web any more due to space and bandwidth issues (the usual problem).
In cooperation with FlatDisk Softworks we now host the Flatdisk Modules Archive (FDMA), a collection of over 5600 mods, collected in the years 1992-1999, also transparently accessible through our Mod-Radio. The site is now hosted at flatdisk.back2roots.org. Thanks FlatRich!

New services at Back to the Roots:
Friends of the MODPlug and SIDPlug browser plugins can now browse all mods of several modarchives connected to BTTR at mods.back2roots.org/. Currently "only" Aminet and HVSC browsing is enabled with a pretty poor frontpage, but this will change...

Friends of IRC can now join us at our official IRC channel #back2roots.org located at irc.back2roots.org port 6667. This service is kindly donated by RCK of abime.net! Thanks RCK!

"Back to the Roots", 5th Anniversary update - yeah!

Ladies and gentlemen, it's nice that you visited us to celebrate our 5th birthday together with us. On June 30th this project was born.
At first, BTTR consisted of only one html page, about 10 games which rotated weekly and a couple of demos and pictures. That was the beginning. A lot has changed in the meantine. BTTR grew bigger and bigger. Today nearly 100 software companies and individual programmers are supporting us to bring you more legal stuff and the team grew to an impressive collection of enthusiasts. Sections were added or expanded, and together with the mirrors we store we can now offer you more than 100GB of data in >300.000 files, a database with more than 26.000 entries and an uncountable amount of html pages :)
Here more goodies for this update:

ADF+HD-Games:
Paul Lombardi, former CEO of Innerprise Software and Discovery Software gave us permission for his Amiga games. Blast the evil away in Battle Squadron and Hybris! Both games are available in ADF and HD format! Also the jump and shoot game The Plague and the legendary Breakout game Arkanoid can now be downloaded.
Mega Typhoon is another excellent shoot'em up. Released in 1996, it came out at a time, when the Amiga lost much of its fame. It didn't get much attention, which is a shame for such an excellent game.
Also, this update is filled up with great games like Anstoss (soccer manager), Over the Net (beach volleyball), Marvin's Marvellous Adventures (jump'n run), Eliminator (action), a puzzle game called Think Cross which comes from the developers of Anno 1503!
We're also proud to present you two small games from the author of Taran im Abenteuerland. Plix and Symbolrechnen are fascinating games for your brain and are released here on "Back to the Roots" for the first time! Tearaway Thomas, the missing game from our last update, is online now, too.

CD-Games:
Finally we have added 12 new CD32-games. Whale's Voyage, Sub War 2050, Oldtimer, Emerald Mines, Disposable Hero and many more are waiting for your enjoyment!

Demos:
In our PC Demos section, we present you some of the greatest releases of the last year. Probably the most stunning release is Raw Confessions, a demo full of horrible creatures, which runs only on Geforce 3 or better gfx cards. Also the second part of Haujobb's great demonstration Liquid...Wen? is made for such modern 3D-cards, only. Overall, you can download 30 entries and lots of more in the other demo sections.

Cover-Scans:
225 new cover scans of Amiga game boxes have been added. If you want to know how the front and back side of games like After Burner, Chaos Engine or Apidya looked like, go ahead to this section.

Scene-Pics:
Besides these we updated our Scene-Pics section with 51 new pictures from our finally connected partner site and team member stalkingwolf.de.

Modules:
The music section was filled with tunes from Battle Squadron, Hybris, Winter Olympiad 88, Zone Warrior and many others. Very interesting could also be a new Audio-CD called Immortal 2. This album is filled with completely new arranged version of famous Amiga game music. Chris Hülsbeck, Barry Leitch, Allister Brimble, Tim Wright and many other famous musicians have worked on that CD. Read our detailed Immortal 2 review!
Of course we haven't forgot the people, who love music from the demoscene. 60 new titles plus 20 new chip-songs have been uploaded. Many of them were used in great demos. Big thanks to "Independent" for supporting us with many files.

More:
Except from three new reviews we also included the Syntex Animator for you.

Don't forget to browse through our massive lists. Hundreds of new entries were added in each section and lots of updated information awaits you!

That's it for this update. We wish the best to all of you and please enjoy everything!

yours "Back to the Roots" team

OUR GIVEAWAYS DEADLINE EXPIRED!
All prices were sent out, thanks to all for participating!

We're proud that this project is online now for such a long time. We'd like to thank you all for your support and start a giveaway:

3x Merregnon Audio-CD, sponsored by Merregnon
3x Audiophonik Audio-CD, sponsored by Imphobia
4x #0.9 Plug-In Audio-CD, sponsored by El Mobo
3x Extreme Visual FX Generator + AddOn, sponsored by Darkage

What you need to do:
You can win one of the above prices by answering these three questions correctly:

1.) In the role playing game Ambermoon from Thalion you can find a lion man called Valdyn. In which action game from the same company was he the main character?
2.) Chris Huelsbeck, Allister Brimble and Olof Gustafsson worked on which soundtrack CD, which is also one of our prices? ;-)
3.) Name three demos from Sanity, a famous Amiga demo group.

Write an Email to us containing the correct answers for these three questions. The winners will be notified by us. The deadline for this giveaway will be July 15th 2003! The questions are really easy and if you shouldn't be able to answer them, why not trying to use our search engine. Good luck ;-)
