Welcome to our Mod-Radio section!
Our Mod-Radio is a service allowing you play fully interactive online radio! This is a totally new aproach to play mod music online, this is not streaming radio but real Mod-Radio!

We offer access to currently 87939 modules with a total duration of 3644 hours for a growing amount of players and platforms through currently 162 radio channels in a tree of subject sorted and hourly computed playlists which make your online module player fetch mod by mod and play it in between. This has the advantage of being totally interactive and having your line free to download software while a mod is playing.

Mod-Radio Requirements:
Currently only two players support our Mod-Radio, WinAmp 2 (not 3!) and latest DeliPlayer 2. We recommend installing both, following our Players Setup Instructions, please read them even if you have already installed both players. Support for other platforms and players are in work...

The Mod-Radio channel tree:
Our Mod-Radio channels are grouped by archives as you can see in the navigation block at the top of this page. These differ a lot in the way how they collect mods (some are manually selected by quality, some just provide uploading facilty to everyone) and by the formats they accept for inclusion (zip, lha, rar, etc). That's why WinAmp only works with 33 channels featuring 29011 mods, while DeliPlayer works with all 162 channels featuring 80835 mods. You can see the difference by the presence of a play button for each player in a channel's listing box.

Back2Roots:   3 main channels     6266 files     271 hours     1367 megabytes
WinAmp + DeliPlayer. The content of our Music section.

Advantages of Mod-Radio over Streaming Radio...
- totally interactive. seek within titles in realtime, skip titles, choose songs, change channels.
- works with ANY modem speed or connection bandwidth with the same audio quality.
- no firewall reconfiguration required, uses normal port 80 http only.
- preserves bandwidth, yours for downloads and ours for spreading files and data.
- mods are always played to the end, no rebuffering gaps when your connection gets bad.
- unlimited amount of channels and listeners on a server, no relays required.
- no quality reduction through compression, uses lossless compression.
- the author's comments and all module parameters are accessble through your player.
Disadvantages of Mod-Radio...
- totally new, not supported yet by most players.
- the quality of mod replaying depends on the player's replay routine quality.
- supporting all players and platforms is a difficult task.

How does Mod-Radio work?
We have collected 111181 audio files for you, 87939 of which are modules, partly by cooperating with other sites and services, partly by mirroring huge archives, mapping them through our engine.

We started the world's largest mod scanning effort! We scanned all modules for their parameters such as the module format, song title, duration and whatever one can find out about each module.

The results of these scans were joined with databases with further information about most modules, such as the authors(s) who made them, which collection they come from, etc.

This database again is mapped to an online player knowledgebase which contains infos about which online player is capable of playing which module formats and compressions.

The result is fed into a complex playlist generator forming a tree of hourly computed subject sorted radio channels which point into our compressed modules archive.

We then got in touch with the makers of the most important online players to support this new type of radio. The best player currently available is DeliPlayer 2, which can play most mods of this collection. The DeliPlayer team was so kind to support this type of service in DeliPlayer 2, thanks!

WinAmp 2 is supported too, but is currently only capable of playing a part of the collection and channels. Support for other players and platforms is being worked on, stay tuned!
