Activision Inc. - Company Review:Projects:
Activision is one of the oldest software companies in the world. They are making computer games since the 80's and they have supported nearly any computer platform or console system which was ever released.

They have supported the Amiga with many great games for years. The made many computer versions of famous arcade games - especially from Sega arcade games. Titles like Afterburner, Power Drift, Dynamite Dux, Atomic Robokid, Altered Beast, Wonderboy in Monsterland and many, many other games. The list is endless!

A true milestone in the history of Activision is definitely the computer version of the famous mind game Shanghai.

Activision has continued their great story with games like the flight sim Fighter Bomber, the brilliant strategy game Deuteros, the great action adventure game Hunter and with one of my personal favourites - R-Type II.

After the death of the famous adventure company Infocom, Activision bought the rights for these old titles. They then released them again as the Lost Treasures of Infocom collections. Also they meanwhile own the rights for the games which were released by Electric Dreams (R-Type, Super Hang On, Millennium 2.2).

In the last, years Activision released some brilliant games for PC and consoles. Games like Dark Reign, Heavy Gear (the sequel was just released), Asteroids 3D, Heretic II, Hexen II, Interstate 76 or Sin (on the index in Germany) to name just a few of them. Also some older and well known titles like Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure were released.

Activision was the first company who mixed the realtime strategy genre with the Action genre in perfection. Battlezone was the result and a new sequel will be released soon, and of course an even better one - although the first part was nearly perfect.

They have just released a great sequel to Sid Meier's Civilization which is called Civilization: Call to Power. A must buy for every strategy freak. They also made a sequels to some old famous Infocom Adventures. Of course with up to date techniques. Two new titles from the great Zork universum were released, and the Leather goddesses of Phobos has seen new adventures too.

But I'm waiting personally for the role playing game Vampire - the Masquerade. It seems to be a very different rpg with a morbid atmosphere and something, which the world has not seen yet in the history of computer games - you're controlling a vampire. The graphics are amazing!

If you're interested in more infos about this company and their current products, have a look at the Activision homepage.
