Chris Huelsbeck's second studio album is the soundtrack of the brilliant Amiga shoot 'em up game Apidya. A game which isn't only well known for the it's great graphics and gameplay - also for it's fantastic music.
As usual for Chris, he has completely rearranged the original TFMX modules in his studio and all songs are sounding better and clearer than ever before. Very interesting is the variety and difference of evey track. The Apidya CD contains music for everyone! Track 1 (Apidya Theme) and Track 8 (Game Over) are two brilliant orchestral pieces in movie soundtrack style. Chris has really a faible for this kind of music and he shows his talent with these two tracks again.
"War at Meadows edge", the music from the flower world, is an excellent synth-pop tune as well as "Credits", the end theme from this game, which is one of my personal all time favourites. Totally different is "Techno Party", the music from the high-tech world. The title of this song describes perfectly the pumping music in the style of the early nineties techno.
Various guest stars have contributed to his album too. "Trip like that" from Point One is some kind of rap while "Theme from Merland" sounds like a real Hülsbeck tune. Even Rudolf Stember has contributed with the title them from the game Blade of Destiny, a real highlight with all it's various powerful, dramatic and melodic parts.
After all I can say that people who like the music from Apidya, the game, and Chris Huelsbeck's music in general will love this album. The bonus songs are nice additions, sometimes very good but now always songs with hit quality. | Apidya Soundtrack Cover
