Digital Integration Ltd. - Company Review (April 2000):Projects:
Since the late eighties, the people from Digital Integration are well known for their high quality flight simulations. Everything started in 1989, when F-16 Combat Pilot was released for the Amiga. This game was the challenger of Spectrum Holobyte's Falcon, and has won many awards, due to his perfect flight model. It was really a had to had challenge, which game was better - Falcon or F-16 Combat Pilot.

One year later ATF II - Advanced Tactical Fighter II was completed. It was much more an action game, than a flight simulation, because the aircraft was controlled from a view, very similar to Afterburner. A short trip into the world of arcade games was made in 1991 with Supaplex, a game developed by Tenshion.

Their best simulation so far is definitely Tornado. I never read any bad review about this game. The vector graphics were highly detailed, the simulation ultra-realistic and the campaigns the best, which the computer world has seen in their history. Even today the gameplay of Tornado is so great and it's always worth to play a mission or two. A real masterpiece.

More great flight simulations were released for PCs only. Hind and Apache Longbow are two of the best helicopter simulations ever made. The Hind is the most formidable frontline helicopter in the soviet military machine and a very ugly one, of course. The Apache Longbow is the well known US helicopter. Both games don't have the best graphics, but an excellent flight model and thrilling campaigns. Another hit product of Digital Integration is F-16 Fighting Falcon and this game follows the high standards which all the other flight simulations from Digital Integration had too and therefore it received many awards too.

All three games are available now in a special compilation called Front Line Fighters, which features also 3dfx enhanced versions for each game and also the mission disk to F-16 Fighting Falcon The Afghanistan Campaign. Totally different to all their past games was the game Rival Realms, a real-time tactical strategy game, which plays in a time of magic, mystery, knights and wizards. The release date of this year was in 1998.

The latest release from Digital Integration was of course another flight simulation - F/A-18E Super Hornet. An ultra-realistic flight simulation of the Boeing/McDonnel Douglas aircraft with a high fidelity flight model, comprehensive and accurately simulated avionics, forty combat missions, four quickstart missions and much more. Excellent cut-scenes and the great graphics making this game to a diamond for flight simulation fans.

As always you'll find the latest infos about their current projects at the Digital Integration website together with more interesting information.
