Ego Agogo
Ego Agogo - CD Review:Cover / Track list:
Ego Agogo - the Y2k release from Oddjob. Again he has completely changed his style. This CD sounds totally different than everything else what he has composed before. This time Oddjob selected an experimental ambient/electronic style for his latest album and it's not always easy to listen to this music.

For some tracks he has just mixed some effects together and "forgot" the melody. Sometimes these tunes reminds me on some scenes from movies like Blade Runner. I would say it's not real music, but it builds up some atmosphere. Other songs on this album are fantastic pieces - very melodic, very harmonic and atmospheric with a sweet taste of Trance.

The opening track "Omega Point" is a perfect intro theme. Not too hard and with some interesting guitar effects. "Daysleeper" follows, a typical ambient tune like it's used very often for scene demos. The next three tracks are some really weird tunes. These are songs, which will fit perfectly in a movie like Blade Runner, but listening to them without watching a movie is not a good idea. Close your eyes and think of some thrilling movie sequences and you'll feel the magic of these tunes.

But let's come to the highlights of this album. These are "Prisoner of Thought" and "Caleido's Quest". Both are ambient trance ballads with wonderful sequences. The rest depends again on your prefered music style. If you like experimental electronic music and effects, then you'll like these tunes too.

As I've written above, some tunes are really strange, but some others are so excellent - judge by yourself by listening to this album, if you like it or not. In my opinion it's Oddjob's best CD after State Affairs.
