After putting the new CD from Oddjob Electroschmock into your CD-player you'll be surprised again with a brilliant opening track Grüner Bereich. A powerful piece with various strange samples, cool sequences and some cool bombastic effects.
Again most of the tunes included on this album, are in an ambient/club style. "Guru Meditation" features also a cool bass. The seventh tune "They might be here to pick me up" is not as powerful as the other ones, because it's a little bit softer and more melodic. The same for "Ueberland", a nice guitar tune with ambient effects as well as some ethno samples. With a duration of about 16min. the last tune on this album -"Potters' Fields"- is one of the longest ambient experiences of all time. It's a cooperation work with Jörg Friedrichs and both musicians have put their thoughts and feelings into this tune.
Electroschmock is his third album after Oddeology and State Affairs and was released in 1999. It's always the same with the CDs from Oddjob. As longer you'll listen to his albums, as more you'll like it. Really fascinating! Ok, it's not as good as State Affairs, but not bad at all. | Electroschmock Cover
