Extase which means Extraordinary Technology and Software Enforcement was the association of some German students including Boris Mechow, Stefan Lohkamp and others. It was their intention to create some adventures. Two games, both released for the Amiga were the result. They were so good that they were even professionally published. Unfortunately they are quite unknown, but with the appearance of these games on BTTR this will probably change:
Their first creation was Projekt Prometheus: We have the year 2012. The biggest subterranean atomic power plant Solar IV has an accident and a very large amount of atomic radiation is set free. Experts of the international research commision find out how to produce anti-radiation. But the resources on mother earth are not sufficient to produce enough of it. So a spaceship, the Prometheus is sent out to locate other planets to find the required substances. You as a prominent TV reporter are on board of that ship too in order to inform the world population about this important mission. Soon, after 7 days a planet which features large amounts of the required substances is found. The stuff is stored in the spacecrafts hold. As an absolutely unexperienced space guy you are the only person who stays on board of the ship. Unfortunately the other folks who walked on that planets surface get rapidly infected by a mystical plague. So the captain asks you by wireless to get back to earth on your own to prevent this mysterious epidemic from expansion on our blue planet. Heavyheartedly you agree and your first challenge is to get along with the complex instruments of the spaceship. Soon you get confronted with incredible situations in outer space. Will you be able to get back to earth and save it from the worst case scenario? This game is a well done RPG/adventure game with a sophisticated interface and good pixel artwork which fits to the rest of the story. The game is in German language.
Their second game was Die Karawane der siebten Dynastie. Like the companies first game it has a text interface to enter your orders. Also in this production it is not ugly at all as seen in many text based games. Coming on four disks the game has many many great pictures which fit to the actual story. The game is split in five episodes: It starts in the desert, goes over bubble gum land, casa Extasa and a bazar to banana land. Well, you should not take these names too seriously. Please note that you have to invest some time to get into the game. The text interface is very easy to learn and mainly identical with other established text based adventure games. As in the Infocom game there are very long (but of course well written and interesting) texts which are required to be read to find useful hints regarding the further story. If you like this sort of games download this rarity now. Good knowledge of German is required!
