Factor 5 LLC. - Company Review:Projects:
I'm sure every true Amiga fan knows the name Factor 5. They made the best action games for the Amiga and each of their games has written Amiga history. Everything started with the great R-Type clone Katakis. Nobody has seen such a perfect shoot 'em up in 1988. Next was the Amiga version of the original - R-Type.

Manfred Trenz - a legend in the computer history - created in 1989 one of the best action games ever - Turrican. The Factor 5 team of Julian Eggebrecht made the 16-bit version of this game and the Amiga version of course is the best one.

Turrican II was released 1991 and it's the best platform action game which I've ever played (who can beat a hiscore of 2667700 points :-) ? The levels have a perfect design, the game is not too difficult and not too easy. There is also a little shoot 'em up sequence in this game (one level with the fastest scrolling I've ever seen on the Amiga).

And Turrican would not be Turrican without the amazing music from Chris Huelsbeck. The title song of the second part was the first Amiga tune, which featured seven voices! I think it's the masterpiece from Chris. A soundtrack CD with the best pieces of music from the first two Turrican parts is available from Synsoniq Records and Bjorn Lynne's homepage. A third part of Turrican was released in 1993 for the Amiga. This time coded together with Peter Thierolf, who also made the brilliant Apidya.

New Turrican games were also released for consoles like the Super Nintendo or Genesis (Mega Drive). This was one of the reasons why I bought a SNES! Factor 5 also created a brilliant Amiga version of Hudson's PC Engine Hero Bonk. The game is called BC Kid and is yet another hit. Meanwhile Factor 5 found a new home in the USA at Lucas Arts. They made many excellent games for consoles and PC for George Lucas company such as the Indiana Jones game on the SNES or Rogue Squadron, the sequel to Shadows of the Empire. Let's wait which masterpieces will follow...

If you're interested in more infos about this company and their current products, have a look at the Factor 5 homepage.
