Marble Eyes are a good example that people from the demoscene can create fantastic games. All employees of this software company were members of the demogroup Ambrosia and have created demos like Riverhorse or Rynkeby, which ranked high at the scene parties where they were presented first.
Programmer Per Bloksgaard developed a stunning 3D-engine on Amiga, which was used for their first (and also one and only) game for this computer: Genetic Species. When the game has been released by publisher Vulcan Software in 1998 the entire Amiga World was raving about this masterpiece. Every magazine worldwide gave it the highest ratings while the players bow down before the creators of this visually impressive title and its well designed gameplay.
Genetic Species is not just a simple 3D-shooter. In this game you're also able to change the form of your body. This ability is necessary to solve and survive special parts of each level. Together with the great and detailed graphics, the atmospheric soundtrack composed by Simon Ravn (aka MeloManiac, the game kidnapps you into its own special world. A thrilling journey must be survived.
An interesting fact is, that we'll see a revival of Genetic Species soon. Currently this game is in development for Nintendos Gameboy Advance. Press material was already presented and shown to various publishers at ECTS 2001.
