Mutation Software was founded by Adrian Cummings in the early nineties. They started with the funny "bug"-shooter Bug Bash, which was released in 1990 and features colorful graphics. Later in this year Nucleus came out, a shoot 'em up game in the tradition of Menace and R-Type.
The next two games of Mutation Software were published by Core Design. Doodlebug was the sequel to Bug Bash. It's a funny Jump 'n Run game, again with a colorful artwork and with a great musical score. Then there was Cyberpunks released. A labyrinth action game - with a little touch of Alien Breed.
All other games which they created, were published by themselve. Tin Toy Adventure is their one and only 'AGA only' game. It's another funny Jump 'n Run with amazing graphics and it's, as of my opinion, the highlight in the history of Mutation Software. Tommy Gun was released in 1996 and it's a game, which also works on a good old A500 machine! It's one of these crosshair shooters like Cabal, but with a sweet tomato as hero and other vegetables as enemies. It's a very difficult game, but it's worth each minute which you're playing this game. Their last game on the Amiga is Caslte Kingdoms, a good action-adventure-rpg mix with some nice little creatures.
Currently Mutation Software are developing games for Gameboy Color and PC (Budget Only), just in case you're wondering where they are now. Maybe we can see some great Amiga games from them on the Gameboy Color in the future, if a major publisher would show interest.
