Oddeology is the debut album from Oddjob. Well, you might think now, who the hell is Oddjob? Don't worry - here comes the answer. Can you remember all these fantastic scene demos from Sanity? Demos like Jesterday or World of Commodore. The person behind the music for these demos was Jester and today he's making music as Oddjob.
His first album Oddeology was released in 1997 and please forget all what you've heard from Jester before. The music from Oddjob sounds completely different. His old demo music was in the style of the early nineties Synth and Techno music. This CD is more groovy, funky, contains some trance sequences as well as club rhythms and a soft touch of black music.
While the first three tracks are more groovy and funky the next two songs are more danceable. The sixth song is some kind of floating melody. It depends more in the trance corner and is very atmospheric. "Miles to go", the seventh tune on this album, is a real trance tune with a fantastic melody. I'm sure this tune wouldn't have a problem to enter the Dance Charts.
Number 08 and 09 are something for your feet while the tenth and last track on Oddeology is a soft synth ballad with nice floating effects. Reminds me a lot on some tunes from the polish musician Scorpik.
It's hard for me to find the right words for this album, because the music is not in my favourite style, except Track 06, 07 and 10, but I'm sure many people will like this CD very much and for me at least "Miles to go" and "Jellyfish" are worth the money. As I've already said very often - it depends on what you like. | Oddeology Cover
