January, the 4th, 2000 in the Czech Republic: It was cold outside while two people - Lahve and GodJr/i2k - were sitting in front of their computers and talked to each other on an IRC channel. They decided to found a new demo group and after some time they baptized the new group on the name Reason. Both founders were members of other groups already and decided to stay in the other groups, too. Of course it's impossible to create demos with just two people, therefore GodJr asked some members of his other group to join Reason, so they were ready to make some productions. Two days later they released their first production Here we are, a dentro to inform the world about their new group.
In the meantime Lahve hold an internal conference to improve the communication between the members of Reason and they started to hire new members, too. It wasn't so hard for them to find new people, because Lahve was well known with his previous group Horizontal Lamers in the scene already and after releasing the first productions with Reason other scene people noticed, these guys aren't another inactive group. Scene people want to be creative, want to work on new productions and therefore they left inactive groups and in Reason they're able to realize their dreams and find friendship. So people joined and meanwhile Reason consists of members from all over the world (Czech Republic, Yugoslavia, Sweden, Germany and England).
One and a half months later, they've released their next production. The Offworld 1 Intro was another non-party release, because it was the introduction scene (very well designed!) for a new diskmag. Lahve was also one of the main organizers of the Apoclaypse 2000 party, held in the Czech Republic, so it was clear that his new group Reason must do the invitation intro for this party. And they did an excellent release! Cool and good looking 3D scenes, powerful music and great design makes in my opinion this inviation intro to the best production from Reason so far.
On the Apocalypse 2k party they've released their first real demo, too. Unfortunately Rage against the female was the only demo compo entry there, because this party isn't so famous like "The Party" in Denmark. But with their next production - an intro called Razorback - Reason won the intro competition at the FuckYa'2k scene party and have proved their talent again.
There's not much more to say about this group, because they're a newer group. All what I can suggest you is to download their demos and enjoy this great stuff. Their first releases are very promising and they have the power to bring some fresh air into the Amiga demo scene - so take care!
We also wanted to know a little bit more from one of the founders of Reason, so we asked Lahve three spontaneous questions:
Bobic: What gives you the motivation for creating demos on the Amiga? Today, most sceners are active on the PC, while the Amiga scene is a bit "tiny", to be honest. Lahve: All depends on the fact that I hate commerce and PC is a classic example of the commercial scene. I guess the PC scene isn't original as the Amiga scene without the dependency to optimize art. And at last, I hate those f*****s like Bill Gates and his crashing software. In short, I'm living in underground and the Amiga scene is giving me all what I need to make anything. I cannot write another sentence than the most known one: Amiga has a soul. And a motivation? I think we formed a group with maximum power and inspiration of original ideas, nothing more. We want to be creative, that`s all. Now we`re preparing an intro, a new demo, a musicdisk, a slideshow etc. Our fight plan is full of good-looking ideas - design and ideas are our number one. Now we have the power for demomaking... :)
Bobic: Your first intros and demos look very promising. You've already set a high standard for your productions. What can we expect from Reason in the future? Lahve: I don't think we have some big success and we don't care about it. Although it is very nice to hear some good opinions about us. We don`t make so much productions to be famous. We wanna be a more quality than quantity group. In the future, you will see only original productions with no megahypercool effect, but with design and ideas. We simply forget nowadays productions of other groups and will set our own standards and ideas. We will have our own way of creating, We have big respect for all Amiga groups and won't try to beat them in any case. So, we are friendly, boozing and active. Ideal combination, isn't it? ;)
Bobic: Where do you think, will the Amiga scene be in about three years? Do you think groups will still make demos for the classic Amigas, or do you think the next generation Amiga will be strong enough to attract sceners for creating demos on it? The Software Developer Kit for this machine is available already, so people can start in developing new scene productions for it, now. Lahve: I answered this question in my article for our new diskmag "Offworld" (the first issue will be out very soon), too. I think the scene will stay in underground, I mean staying with classic Amigas. The "new Amiga" is developed for games and software, not for the scene. If there will be any scene on the new Amiga, it will be on the same level as the PC scene. Closer to the commercial entertainment. The new Amiga will be another world in the opposite side than the classic Amiga in the scene.
Bobic: Thank you very much for your time! | Razorback
