Here it is - State Affairs, the 98er release from Oddjob. After listening to his first album Oddeology I was a little bit disappointed, because the style between Jester and Oddjob was totally different. Even this album can't be compared with the old Jester tunes, but it's a really cool modern music album. Much better than his debut Oddeology.
State Affairs sounds different to his album from 1997. It's in a more ambient/trance style and has a fantastic intro track. The right song to awake your interest for hearing more from this album. Harder ambient tracks (Sweet Psycho, Do you believe in Odd) are changing with more melodic tracks (Hope is substantial, Tempi Passati - an excellent tune!).
Of course not all tracks are in this music style. I think Oddjob is meanwhile well known for his various styles and even on State Affairs are some special tunes included. "Whithered Poetry" is a funky guitar track while "Equilibrium" is a slow sax tune with various floating sequences. An excellent relax tune is "User Friendly". Very slow, very soft with cool guitar effects. Oddjob's best CD so far! Definitely! | State Affairs Cover
